Sunbelt Sales and Marketing Associates Inc., of Atlanta, GA, USA, has met the requirements of and have been certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) in partnership with Georgia Women’s Business Council as a Women’s Business Enterprise.
“We are very proud and excited to be certified by such a prestigious organization as the WBENC," says Shirl Handly, president. “Being certified by the WBENC will allow us to expand into other avenues of business, serve additional customers and to grow the company to new levels.”
In May 2007, Handly became Sunbelt Sales’ majority shareholder and president. In August the company received its certification by WBENC as a Woman’s Business Enterprise. Handly had been Sunbelt’s minority shareholder and vice president in charge of finance and operations for 15 years. Her partner, Dean Bates, served as president of Sunbelt from its formation in 1981. He now serves as vice president of sales and marketing.
