The Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA) will begin a regional tour of its educational workshops in early March. The first will be on March 5 at Arizona State University (ASU), Mesa, AZ, USA, and will be titled “2008 Flexo Productivity & Quality Workshop.” The seminar is chaired by Howard Nelson of ASU and by Joe Tuccitto of FFTA. The same workshop will be held at the Four Points Sheraton BWI Airport on March 25 and is chaired by Jay Sperry of Clemson University and also by Tuccitto.
The focus of the workshops is to communicate the changing business and technical environments facing today’s flexographic label and packaging printers. Topics include: the basics of photopolymer platemaking; standards and how they are impacting the entire printing industry; near neutral density calibration; color management; ink films; plate technologies; FIRST 4.0 (Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances); color management; and anilox rolls and doctor blades. Presenters are from Allison Systems, DuPont Imaging Technologies, MacDermid Printing Solutions, X-Rite, XSYS Print Solutions, and ASU and FFTA.
The one-day workshops are designed for anyone who works in a pressroom or manages pressroom operations. The early bird rate for both workshops is $95 for FTA members and $190 for non-members. The ASU early bird deadline is through February 22 and the BWI early bird deadline is through March 14. On-site registration rates are $125 and $250, respectively. To register, or for more information, visit www.flexography.org or call 631-737-6020.
