HP Indigo is poised to make a major product introduction, industry sources say. The digital print arm of Hewlett-Packard is preparing an announcement for March10 to reveal what it plans to exhibit at Drupa, the large print trade show scheduled for May in Dusseldorf, Germany.
No details have been forthcoming from HP about the product introduction, but well placed sources say that the company will unveil a new digital press that might offer twice the production speed of the existing ws4500. The new webfed machine also will print a larger repeat, according to reports. It will not replace the ws4500, which is a highly popular digital press worldwide, but rather will offer a more muscular alternative.
In the words of one observer: “This could pose a challenge to flexo.”
