Avery Dennison Corporation has announced the appointment of John J. "Jack" Farrell Jr. to the position of vice president and general manager, RFID Division. Farrell will be based out of the RFID Division's headquarters in Flowery Branch, GA, USA.
Farrell will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of the company's RFID business, which it claims is the largest producer of UHF inlays in the world. Farrell replaces Robert Cornick, who recently was named vice president and general manager of the company's Printer Systems Division.
"Jack brings a wealth of managerial experience to the RFID business, which is just beginning to take hold in Europe and the US," says Dean A. Scarborough, president and CEO of Avery Dennison. "Every day we are seeing new applications and uses for RFID and our business has quadrupled during the last year. In this important role, Jack will define and execute plans to identify application based markets and develop and implement strategies for accessing them; grow the RFID business with profitable initiatives that leverage the company's competitive advantages; and enhance revenue building relationships."
Farrell joins Avery Dennison after two years as senior merger and acquisition advisor to private equity firms, including GTCR Golder Rauner. Prior to that he was president and chief executive officer of PSC Inc., a manufacturer of data capture products, including RFID readers.
