SCT International acquires Intellectual Product Protection

March 30, 2009

The acquisition expands the capabilities of SCT, which also owns Sekuworks and Affyrmx.

SCT International, a holding company focused on security printing, brand protection and anti-counterfeiting, has announced that Affyrmx, its subsidiary, has acquired the intellectual property rights, including certain patents and technology, of Intellectual Product Protection, of Bangkok, Thailand. The transaction did not include the business of Intellectual Product Protection LTD, based in Bangkok, Thailand, which continues to operate as an independent company.

Intellectual Product Protection develops and implements brand protection programs for governments and companies that require a high level of security. Affyrmx, based in Atlanta, GA, USA, licenses proprietary technologies which are designed to ensure the authenticity and integrity of our customers’ brands, products, and documents.

Anthony J. Butte, chairman of SCT, comments, “The acquisition of the intellectual property rights and technologies from Intellectual Product Protection advances our progress towards meeting the strategic goal of identifying and completing synergistic acquisitions that add to our proprietary technology portfolio.” Robert W. Spiller, president of SCT, adds, “The launch of these new technologies continues our push to become a customer-driven full service provider of a wide range of products and services that meet the security needs of our customers.”

SCT is also the parent company of Sekuworks, which offers brand protection and security printing at its Harrison, OH, USA, plant.

Timothy P. Merchant, president of Intellectual Product Protection Ltd, notes, “The sale of intellectual property rights to technologies developed by our company will be beneficial not only in bringing new advanced security products to the market, but will also serve to allow our company to continue to focus in its core areas of strength which is consulting to governments and Fortune 500 companies.”
