One Solution, a manufacturer of wide and superwide inkjet printing machines based in Wavre, Belgium, has entered the narrow web digital printing market with Calisto, a UV inkjet printer, which it will exhibit in September at Labelexpo Europe.
Calisto features a single pass print engine offering a resolution of 952 dpi and utilizing up to 16,000 nozzles. The variable drop technology allows for seven different drop sizes between six and 42 picoliters. Smaller drops, the company says, will result in sharp text and bar codes, and bigger drops will produce strong solid colors.
An optional corona treatment unit is available to improve ink adhesion. UV curing is accomplished in a nitrogen environment, which allows for printing on very thin and heat sensitive materials.
Two versions are offered. The Calisto 8000 (which can be upgraded to the 16000), has a printing width of 14 cm (5.5”); the 16000 model is double that width. Both models run at 24 m/min (78 fpm).
