Hewlett-Packard has joined the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) as its first Platinum Patron, the highest patronage level. SGP is an organization within the printing industry aimed at promoting environmental responsibility.
“The SGP Partnership is pleased to have a major corporation such as HP become a platinum level SGP Patron,” says Marcia Kinter, chairperson of the SGP Partnership. “It clearly indicates HP’s strong support to promote sustainability within the graphic communications industry.”
“HP sees an enormous potential to reduce waste with digital printing solutions for the graphic arts industry,” notes Jan Riecher, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business – Americas, HP. “Our support of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership at the platinum level reflects our desire to extend the successes achieved in this organization’s efforts to make sustainability a core component of print communications.”
The SGP Partnership is an independent, non-profit organization devoted to encouraging and promoting participation in the worldwide movement to reduce the environmental impact and increase the social responsibility of the print and graphic communication industry through sustainable green printing practices. Through the generous support of philanthropic companies like HP, the SGP Partnership is able to keep fees low for printers to participate in the program.
The SGP Partners, all industry associations, include the Flexographic Technical Association, the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers, Printing Industries of America, and the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association.
