S. Lerner Ltd., a label converter in Akko, Israel, has acquired a 430mm (17”) Omet X-Flex press in its pursuit of business in the shrink sleeve market. The flexo press has eight UV print stations and one fitted with hot air drying. Features include automatic register control with the company’s Vision-1 inspection system, corona treatment on both sides of the web, and peel-and-seal capability.
“The X-Flex impressed us with its technology and performance,” says Doron Lerner, CEO of S. Lerner. “We found Omet to be an innovative company with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. This was crucial when it came to choosing a supplier to take us forward.”
Founded in Haifa in 1978 by Shmuel Lerner, the company, which is still in family ownership, moved to a new 4,000 square meter factory in Akko in 2000, where a staff of 100 and an annual throughput of 7,500,000 square meters of substrate generates a turnover of €10 million.
In addition to flexo technology, S. Lerner has a digital print facility, a graphics studio, and in-house platemaking. “We like to control the production process from start to finish so that we are confident of the quality we offer our customers,” adds Lerner.
Omet also concluded the sale of a VaryFlex F1 press to Polymer, a packaging printer in Costa Rica. The press is a nine-color flexo line fitted with inline solvent lamination. Established 65 years ago, Polymer has five plants located across Central America and manufactures a range of approximately 3,000 plastic packaging items for the industrial, consumer and agricultural sectors.
Speaking for Omet, Sales Director Marco Calcagni comments: “We are delighted to have secured this order from such a prestigious company. It indicates that the resources we dedicate to innovation are appreciated by converters that need cutting edge technology.
