UPM Raflatac has received certification to the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System for its Durban, South Africa, labelstock manufacturing facility.
“Achieving ISO 14001 certification makes an important statement to our customers, end-users and also our suppliers about UPM Raflatac’s commitment and responsibility to the environment,” says Renee Thesen, Quality,HS & Sustainability Manager, UPM Raflatac, South Africa.
The ISO 14001 accreditation includes the manufacture, slitting and sale of pressure sensitive paper and film labelstock. The factory will be reassessed annually to ensure that it is achieving its targets and continuously improving its environmental performance. ISO 14001 certification requires that an organization identifies and controls the environmental impact of its activities, products or services, continually improves its environmental performance, and implements a systematic approach to setting and measuring the achievement of its environmental objectives and targets. The certificate was awarded by the British Standards Institution.
