The open house at Flexographic Trade Services (FTS) in Fort Mill, SC, USA, will feature a range of new equipment from industry suppliers, including a new Martin Automatic splicer and rewinder combo on a narrow web label press, Aztech Converting Systems’ BSR2X dual spindle slitter/rewinder, and Mark Andy’s new P5 Performance press.
The Open House begins August 9 with a shotgun golf tournament and continues through August 12. The actual Open House will be on August 10, and will also celebrate the 2010 Harper Army National Guard Scholarship Fund and the 10th anniversary of FTS.
The new Martin Automatic MBSC butt splicer will be combined with an STR turret rewinder to provide non-stop roll changing for the P5 Performance press. Matching the press speed of up to 500 fpm, the MBSC / STR combo is aimed at boosting productivity and reducing material waste.
“For a number of years, Martin has been a vendor sponsor of Flexographic Trade Services, where visitors and students have been able to see and experience the benefits of non-stop splicing,” says Gavin Rittmeyer, vice president of sales for Martin Automatic. “Our new MBSC splicer, coupled with an STR turret rewinder as a combo package, represents an exceptionally affordable investment that puts roll automation easily within reach of most narrow web label printers. We are very excited about creating the opportunity for students to train on this high-performance equipment.”
