Edwards Label installs Squid inkjet system

January 10, 2011

The California converter will use the system to print sequential numbering, bar codes and game codes.

Edwards Label, a converter in Ventura, CA, USA, has installed a VDP In-Line variable data printing system from Squid Ink Manufacturing.

The four head 10” system was installed on a Mark Andy 4150 press with the ability to be moved to other presses in the pressroom. The system is being used to print sequential numbering, bar codes, and game codes in line on tags and labels.

Edwards Label produces promotional products ranging from booklet labels to scratch-and-smell game tags. Edwards also serves Central and South America with facilities in Mexico and Brazil.

The VDP In-Line variable data printing system prints up to 8.4” of any variable data, such as sequential numbers, sequential bar codes, traceability codes, or game codes on tickets, tags and labels. The system mounts to an existing narrow web flexo press or rewind/inspection unit and prints inline to avoid taking labels off-line to print variable information with thermal transfer printers.

Squid Ink specializes in the manufacture of superior quality inks and inkjet printing equipment for the packaging and product marking industry. Headquartered in Brooklyn Park, MN, USA, the company also has manufacturing facilities in Spring Lake Park, MN, and Shanghai, China.
