X-Rite Color Services, a manufacturer of color measurement instrumentation and software, has announced that it will offer a Fundamentals of Instrumentation and Quality Control (FIQC) seminar to supplement its popular Fundamentals of Color and Appearance (FOCA) seminar. The seminars will be offered in 10 cities in the U.S. and Canada, the first of which will be in Chicago, February 28-29.
"These seminars are particularly effective and fun because we encourage hands-on participation," says Joel Schick, business development manager of X-Rite Color Services. "Attendees are asked to bring their own samples so they can develop best practices in measuring the colors of their products to improve and monitor workflows. We love it when the attendees come prepared with questions about their quality control needs."
According to the company, these seminars provide participants with hands-on training of sample measurements, data collection and reporting for quality control. Both are aimed at helping quality control and assurance professionals, lab technicians, parts suppliers, pre-media and digital pressroom personnel and manufacturing specifiers learn how to evaluate and approve colors in their workflows.
Geared for those without any prior training, the FOCA course addresses color control for a variety of industries, including retail and apparel brands, business and consumer electronics, automotive, graphics arts, packaging and their related industries in plastics, coatings, and textile manufacturing. Attendees are given a solid foundation in the basics of color and appearance, and then instruction on how to measure, view and understand color data.
The FOCA seminar is not a prerequisite for the FIQC seminar, but those registering for FIQC should have familiarity with color measurement nomenclature and basics. Attendees of either seminar will receive an X-Rite Munsell Interactive Learning Kit that reinforces the lessons with worksheets, samples, and exercises, as well as X-Rite’s exclusive Fundamentals of Color and Appearance book that acts as a reference on color in easy-to-read language.
The cost of the FOCA seminar is $595, and the cost of the FIQC seminar is $895. Those who register for either seminar from Jan. 24 to Feb. 24 will receive a 10% discount. X-Rite is offering a bundled price of $1,295 for those who register for both seminars. The seminars run each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and continental breakfasts and lunches are provided.
