At TLMI's recent Annual Meeting John Bennett, vice president of FLEXcon’s production identification business team, was honored with the organization's Supplier of the Year award. Additionally, Scott Pillsbury, president of Rose City Label Company, was named TLMI Converter of the Year at the event held in Naples, FL, USA.
Presented on an annual basis, the Supplier of the Year Award honors and recognizes an individual for their ongoing volunteer service and dedication to TLMI, and to the greater industry. Criteria for winning the award includes service to TLMI on the association’s board and committees, in addition to continuous commitment to the industry as a whole by helping to promote and foster its growth.
Bennett joined FLEXcon in 1989 and has held numerous technical, marketing and management positions throughout his 23-year career at the company. He was promoted to electronic printing team manager in 1994 and vice president of the electronic printing business team in 1997. In 2000, Bennett assumed the role of vice president of the product identification business. Over the course of his tenure at FLEXcon, he has been instrumental in the development of the company’s Customer Education Program and has made multiple contributions to new product platforms, technologies and the company’s industry association and co-supplier relationships.
Bennett served three years on the TLMI Board of Directors and is currently the co-chair of the association’s Learning Committee. Frank Sablone, TLMI President, says, “John Bennett is an extremely dedicated supplier member. His previous work with the Board of Directors and his current involvement with the TLMI Learning Committee have benefited the association tremendously. He brings the highest level of professionalism to the work he does with the association and we are lucky to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable person working on our behalf. I speak for myself and all TLMI members in congratulating John for achieving this honor.”

Every year, the Converter of the Year Award honors and recognizes a member of the converting industry who has made an extensive contribution to the North American narrow web marketplace and who has additionally demonstrated an unwavering commitment to TLMI.
Born and raised in the tag and label industry, Scott started attending TLMI meetings as a child and throughout his career as an industry professional, his service and dedication to the association has been exceptional. Scott’s father, Mike Pillsbury, purchased Rose City Label when Scott was in elementary school. Through his early school years, Scott had various jobs at the company and joined Rose City Label as a professional in 1994. Today, the company offers flexographic, hot stamp and digital labels to a wide-ranging customer base in the food, lumber, durable goods and beverage industries. Scott’s tenure with TLMI includes ten years spent on the TLMI Board of Directors and two years as the association’s Chairman.
John Hickey, CEO of Smyth Companies and the 2010 Converter of the Year, says, “Scott was a tremendous leader during some tough times as Chairman of TLMI and he made it look easy. On a personal side, Scott is always great company, making him a tremendous ambassador for what the TLMI stands for. He is the consummate soft-spoken leader who listens first to understand and suggests thoughtful, collective ideas for action.”
