Italian press and converting machine manufacturer Omet recently debuted a new facility in Lecco dedicated to tissue converting. According to the company, the expansion of Omet in the past few years required new space "with the objective to strengthen the company leadership and support the development of new technologies in the industry."
Marco Calcagni, sales and marketing director, says a significant increase in orders for machinery in recent years has not been the only reason that led to implement a further expansion of the production department. "Our machines division for tissue needs room to develop new projects that we are pursuing with great conviction and confidence and that will be the leading industry's technology in the coming years. This is only the first step of a strategic plan of development for tissue that will provide important new investments in the next two or three years. This is definitely a first major change that will bring great advantages in terms of production efficiency and capacity to meet the growing demands of our machines from all over the world."
The new facility, operational since October 2012, consists of 1,450 square meters dedicated to the manufacturing sector and 550 square meters of office space. The warehouse and offices were completely renovated following all safety and environmental regulations. On the roof of the plant, photovoltaic panels were installed in an effort to make the facility green and to fully cover electricity needs.
