Desmedt Labels, a label manufacturer in Bornem, Belgium (between Antwerp and Brussels), has installed a Cuttopress CP-6000 waste extraction system from Matho. The installation occurred just prior to Labelexpo Europe.
Jef Sercu, production manager at Desmedt, says the machinery meets Desmedt's desire to reduce waste volume while speeding up presses and centralizing waste in an outside compactor. The extraction system is designed to handle waste from six matrix machines and three edge trim slitters in the beginning, including an option to add three additional matrix machines in the future.
Matho planned, manufactured and installed the equipment as a turnkey project for Desmedt. This includes the cutting modules, central pipe system, transportation fan, material separator, a professional dust filter system (including air return system) and an anti-static system.
Founded in 1889 in Brussels, family-owned Desmedt Labels is led by Henri Köhler and is EN ISO 9001-2008 certified and FSC compliant. The company produces high-quality labels on both flexo and digital presses.
