KDM P.O.P Solutions Group, full-service commercial and packaging printer in based in Cincinnati, OH, USA, has announced the addition of an HP Indigo WS6800 digital press to its retail print production operations. This investment will assure maximum efficiency, breakthrough productivity, intelligent color automation and versatility for a broad range of applications to drive growth.
The WS6800 is a leading narrow web digital printing solution for mainstream labels and packaging production. The press features inline priming that offers versatility in the selection of off-the shelf substrate options, which will allow KDM to produce on a wider range of media for the retail industry. The HP Indigo supports flexible print media from 0.5 pt. to 18 pt. thick, such as pressure sensitive labels, sleeves, paperboard, folding cartons and unsupported films.
“The inline priming feature gives us the unique capability to coat our media on the fly, which means we can support those last minute jobs easier and quicker than ever,” says Bob Kissel, president and CEO, KDM.
Automated color matching and color consistency are achieved with an inline spectrophotometer and seven ink stations (6- colors plus white) that reach up to 97% of Pantone colors. The HP Indigo’s ElectroInk technology is designed to match gravure printing. All color separations are laid down at the same time, in one single pass, for perfect registration.
“For our customers, the inline color matching and correcting feature means we are able to hit the right brand color from the first label to the last label—today, tomorrow and next year,” adds Kissel.
HP’s advanced VDP (variable data printing) software solutions allow for mass customization on-demand. This may include printing elements like barcodes, text, numbers, photos, security features and variable designs. This opens up the creative marketing opportunities for consumer brands and retailers.
Additional features of the narrow web press include a larger output print size of 12.5” × 38.5″ (doubling HP Indigo’s older models), and significantly higher print production speeds up to 131 fpm in four-color mode, and up to 196 fpm in one- or two-color mode.
