Swiss Pack, a flexible packaging and label manufacturer in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, has installed Canada's first HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press. The press addresses the company's customer demands for a local, Canadian print service provider offering short-run flexible packaging and digital label printing.
With the new press, Swiss Pack Canada will be able to help Canadian small businesses enter the customized flexible packaging market with cost-effective, high quality packaging with a low minimum order quantity. The recent investment expands the printer’s short-run flexible packaging business to produce dozens of different jobs per day – while addressing the evolving needs of its customers with quicker speed to market. The press’ 740 x 1100 mm image format covers a wide range of flexible packaging jobs while bringing high productivity and efficiency to a variety of applications.
The HP Indigo 20000 is a mid-web digital press with a speed and imposition capability that make it productive and cost-effective for digital labels and flexible packaging. Its 29-inch image width captures the vast majority of flexible packaging, pressure sensitive label, shrink sleeve, wrap-around label, and in-mold labeling (IML) applications. It can print on substrates from 0.4 point to 10 point and produce up to 135 linear fpm in full color. Converters can meet strict brand color needs using seven ink stations and a color gamut that reaches up to 97% of Pantone colors.
“Our investment in the HP Indigo 20000 enables us to help companies, especially those in the food packaging industry, make the transition into short run digital printing,” says Philippe St-Cyr, general manager at Swiss Pack Canada. “We pride ourselves in being a local Canadian print service provider that produces high quality products with sustainable substrates – while providing customer service excellence, and helping these companies take their first step into custom printed packaging.”
