With EyeC’s new Workflow Integration, prepress operations and studios can now incorporate EyeC Proofiler Graphic, the company’s PDF proofing technology, into workflow systems such as Esko’s Automation Engine.
The EyeC Workflow Integration automates quality control in the prepress stages. The workflow system automatically activates the inspection process and the EyeC Proofiler Graphic retrieves the order data, as well as inspection parameters of the respective job from the workflow system. It automatically inspects the entire contents of the PDF file – including text, graphics, Braille, as well as 1D and 2D codes – against one or more approved files and then reports the inspection results back to the workflow system.
With help from the EyeC Workflow Integration, printers, design agencies or print form manufacturers can verify their entire prepress process, including one-up files, step-and-repeat files and various other file versions. The quality of the print files are verified throughout the process while corrections can be made quickly and securely.
Companies can choose the level of automation that best fits their needs. The semi-automatic inspection allows for a subsequent manual approval of the inspection results in the user interface of the EyeC Proofiler Graphic. With full automation, the workflow can inspect and release files automatically if they match the approved artwork, with the operator only intervening when errors are detected. For example, the platemaking can be automatically initiated if the data is consistent with the approved file.
“The integration of our solution into workflow systems allows for an integrated, standardized and automated quality control procedure,” explains Ansgar Kaupp, CEO of EyeC. “This allows employees in the prepress process to quickly and easily ensure that all necessary changes to the print files are applied and nothing has been accidentally modified. The integration increases not only security but also the efficiency of quality control.”
