Great Lakes Label has teamed up with artist April Lytle for ArtPrize, the largest public art event in the world. Lytle's entry is one of 1,346 which will be spread out over 177 venues. The piece, Madama Rosmerta, is comprised of labels provided by Great Lakes Label. It’s fitting, considering Rosmerta is the Celtic goddess of birth and rebirth.
Comments Lytle, “I've always tried to use art to make a difference, volunteering with Charter schools and LGBT organizations such as Time Out Youth in Charlotte, NC and nursing home volunteering with charcoal drawings and the elderly. It's my belief that everyone is an artist in their own right, should they find their correct medium. I've literally seen art save lives and give value to people that previously didn't believe they had any. My preferred medium is acrylic with mixed media involved; modeling paste as well as three dimensional sculpts for both the painting and the frame.”
The entry can be viewed at Manic Muse Salon in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, from September 20 to October 8. Manic Muse is a salon focused on sustainability. As a Green Circle Certified Salon, Manic Muse recycles 95-99% of waste and saves almost 10 gallons of water per service by providing dry manicures and pedicures.
