Alphasonics, a Liverpool, UK-based supplier of anilox, parts and plate cleaning equipment to the flexographic print industry, has announced the formation of a new US subsidiary, Alphasonics USA. It will act as a sales office, designed to service the United States flexographic printing market by providing the latest in ultrasonic press room cleaning technology.
This new business unit of Alphasonics is based in Richmond, VA, and seeks to increase US market share through a dedicated and direct sales force. Christopher Jones will become the vice president of the standalone company, leaving behind his duties as UK and Ireland sales manager, the role he has been in for 8 years. He says, "I’m extremely excited to be fronting this project, designed to take us further in a market that unfortunately has been neglected for too long. I aim to bring the very best in terms of technical expertise, quality of service and a product that will bring unrivalled results in print houses across the country."
The move is part of a broader expansion program for Alphasonics, which also includes the company making headway into the medical industry. David Jones, managing director for Alphasonics, points out that this move has been facilitated through the company's development of their numerous technologies. He explains, "What we’ve found is that surgical cleaning has the same issues as print does to a certain extent, just in reverse. Both relate to the lack of consistency, whether thats through poor ultrasonic distribution or unequal application of chemical.
Jones continues, "In the same way we guarantee a consistent, safe and effective delivery of ultrasonics to clean an anilox to full volume, we can remove germs and prion protein from surgical equipment. It’s an extremely exciting time in terms of what comes next for us and equally as pleasing that what we’ve developed over the years has bigger potential than we even thought."
As a result of the move, Alphasonics has begun the process of expanding its production facility. This follows the achievement of an ISO 13485 production quality standard which sets the company up to produce medical grade cleaning systems.
Alphasonics USA is expected to open for business officially in February 2018. For more info, visit www.alphasonicsusa.com.
