In line with Fedrigoni Group’s roadmap to become a leading sustainable business, the Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives division envisions an increase in the volume of advanced ESG solutions in its product portfolio from 35% to 70% by 2030.
Design for recycling is among the key strategies pursued by Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives to reach this goal. The strategy includes favoring the recycling and reuse of materials, increasing the use of recycled materials as much as possible, and reducing the quantity of raw materials used. Moreover, the Division is striving to, wherever possible, eliminate or reduce materials that are difficult to recycle.
Through research and technological innovation, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives is upgrading its most common materials used in the market. As the latter are mostly used in the large-scale distribution, the company chose to trigger a single material change that can make a difference in its impact. The result is an enrichment of its wide portfolio with the new range of recycled papers and films.
Regarding recycled papers, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives developed Coated 80 Recycled FSC and Vellum Recycled FSC, greneer solutions compared to their counterparts Coated 80 and Vellum Papers, mostly used in the labeling sector at a large-scale distribution level.
As far as the company's recycled polypropylene and recycled polyethylene films, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives has engineered virgin-grade quality self-adhesive materials. The PP films can have a recycled content that ranges from 85% to 90%, the highest amount in all of Fedrigoni's portfolio, or having a 30% recycled PP for a good sustainability/price ratio.
Conversely, the PE films are made with 30% of recycled content while still ensuring high quality and a minor use of new raw materials in the production process. Common to both the PP and PE films is the sustainability certification of the facestocks. All the facestocks have obtained the ISCC certification: the sustainability certification system covering the entire supply chain and all kinds of bio-based feedstocks and renewables.
