DNP and 3M have partnered to expand their line of Underwriters' Laboratories (UL)-certified product offerings. UL labels and label materials recognized under the category code number (CCN) PGJI2 are tested according to the test methods in American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/UL 969, the Standard for Marking and Labeling Systems.
The collaboration between the two companies means that DNP thermal transfer ribbons have been found suitable for use with 3M labelstocks.
DNP manufactures a wide variety of wax, wax/resin, resin, and near-edge thermal transfer ribbons used in thousands of applications worldwide. Independently, thermal transfer ribbon cannot be UL certified, but when paired with a label like 3M, it can be. 3M Durable Label Materials combine performance-based adhesives, topcoats, liners, and more, keeping messaging vibrant and legible for years, even in harsh conditions.
Working together to gain UL certification, their quality and performance become verified, creating strengthened security and enhanced sustainability. DNP thermal transfer ribbon inks and 3M Durable Label Materials provide thousands of combinations recognized by UL and suitable for use on UL-certified products.
Aaron Johnson, US and Canada portfolio manager of 3M's Durable Label Materials, says, "3M is excited to partner with DNP to bring customer-focused durable label solutions to market. Our joint capabilities will enable graphic converters to easily specify and print UL-approved label constructions for a variety of different applications and environmental conditions."
Brian Marazza, technical sales manager of DNP, adds, "DNP is pleased to add to our expansive list of UL recognized 3M label materials. The combined partnership of two industry leaders allows us to offer customers a world-class solution to their most demanding labeling applications."
