All American Label & Packaging/Western Shield (AALP/Western Shield) has merged with Lotus Labels, a provider of pressure sensitive prime labels and packaging solutions to the cosmetics and health and beauty segments.
Lotus, located in Brea, CA, USA, gives AALP/Western Shield a larger footprint in the Southern California market, as well as greater exposure to several key market segments. Lotus’ exacting standards and quality are a perfect fit to AALP/Western Shield’s existing culture and core values.
“Lotus is a great addition to the AALP/Western Shield family,” says Nizar Elias, chief executive officer, AALP/Western Shield, adding “Lotus has a tremendous reputation for quality and service and vast experience servicing the food and health and beauty segments. Their location in Brea will allow us to further extend our already deep presence in the Southern California area. We are excited about our combined ability to provide even greater service and expertise to our combined customers.”
“We are excited to join forces with the wonderful and talented people at AALP/Western Shield. We evaluated several opportunities in the market, and none had the kind of sales and operational synergies we see here,” comments George Wu, founder, Lotus Labels.
Meanwhile, Mactac has been granted Critical Guidance Recognition (CGR) from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), exceeding the association’s strictest criteria for product packaging recyclability.
Mactac earned the recognition for its polypropylene pressure sensitive label materials with a hot-melt adhesive for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) containers. During Critical Guidance testing, Mactac labels demonstrated compatibility with standard HDPE container recycling practices and remained in place without impacting the physical properties of the recycled HDPE pellets. With the accolade, Mactac becomes the first label manufacturer to receive CGR for a hot-melt adhesive, the company says.
“We are thrilled to be the first to be granted CGR for a hot-melt adhesive and are proud to offer a proven solution to brands and converters seeking to enhance the recyclability of rigid HDPE packaging material,” says Kim Hensley, senior marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives. “Achieving this recognition is an important step in our company’s Simply Sustainable commitment to promote a more circular economy.”
