William Troxil is president of Industrial and Production Print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions, USA Inc., where his main responsibility is leading the company’s Industrial Print Business. Troxil recently sat down with L&NW to discuss the company’s initiatives to enhance the growth of digital label printing.
"Konica Minolta has been a leader in the digital label printing market for seven years. We now have a market leading position with over 1,500 presses installed. We broke into the market with our C71CF, which quickly gained traction among customers who recognized its potential for success and profitability in the short-run label market," he says.
"Customer feedback has played a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of the press. By listening to our customers’ needs and aspirations, we have been able to identify areas for improvement and drive innovation. Today, we provide the third and fourth generations of the platform. These generations offer customers unparalleled speed and quality on a wide range of common substrates, eliminating the need for any precoating. These advancements enable our customers to achieve greater productivity and profitability in their label production processes. With each new iteration, we have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in digital label printing."
Plus, Showcasing its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Mactac has again been recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for recyclability of its pressure sensitive label materials.
APR has just announced that Mactac has earned Critical Guidance Recognition (CGR) for its polypropylene pressure sensitive label materials with hot-melt adhesive for rigid polypropylene containers. Label materials were proven compatible with polypropylene container recycling practices, exceeding the strictest criteria for product packaging recyclability.
Mactac is the first manufacturer to earn CGR for a hot-melt adhesive for polypropylene recycling applications. Mactac was also the first manufacturer to earn CGR for a hot-melt adhesive for high-density polyethylene containers, which it received in 2023.
“Mactac is committed to promoting a more circular economy and earning this recognition yet again propels us toward our goal,” says Kim Hensley, senior marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives. “To be the first manufacturer to earn CGR for a hot-melt adhesive last year was extremely exciting. And, to now hold the honor for both high density polyethylene and polypropylene applications is a significant accomplishment. Our team is incredibly proud.”
