Raflatac reorganizes
European operations
All the major label stock manufacturers are striving to cut costs and increase efficiencies in a highly competitive and increasingly globalized market. Raflatac is no exception. The Finland-based group plans to concentrate the production of self-adhesive laminate in its factories in Finland, England, France and Spain. It says the restructuring will not affect the group’s global sales and distribution network.
Raflatac intends to close its Hirschhorn factory in Germany this year. Its second domestic factory in Jyväskylä will gradually switch over to the production of Rafsec’s RFID transponders. The company also plans to end sheeting activities at the main Tampere factory this year and transfer the production of hot melt laminate, mostly to the French factory near Nancy. The Tampere factory will concentrate on special and film-based products, following further investments and an increased workforce.
