Dupont-Brunner deal
points to flexo standards
An agreement between DuPont Imaging Technologies and System Brunner of Switzerland is intended to enhance the accuracy of Eurostandard Cromalin contract proofing for offset printing. However, Paolo Barbieri, head of DuPont Imaging Technologies in Europe, says it may lead to new standards for digital flexo proofing: “Our new work with System Brunner will be particularly beneficial to our Cyrel flexo customers, who do not have the benefit of color standards across their industry.”
DuPont has worked with System Brunner since 1979 and the Eurostandard Cromalin proofing standard is widely used for both digital and analog proofing applications in commercial printing. The latest move reflects the increase in computer-to-plate technologies in all forms of printing and the need to establish relevant proofing standards. A major feature is the integration of Brunner’s Instrument Flight system into the Cromalin standard to help achieve accurate press fingerprinting.
