ScandStick acquires Samuel Jones
In another label stock development, ScandStick, a Swedish manufacturer of self-adhesive label substrates, has rescued Samuel Jones Group (SJP UK Ltd.) from a form of financial protection named “administration.” SJP UK becomes a subsidiary company and is renamed ScandStick UK Ltd.
Besides acquiring a “significant foothold” in the UK market, the deal allows ScandStick to complement its hot-melt adhesives technology with SJP’s expertise in acrylic/emulsion-based adhesives, as well as sheetfed and film products.
ScandStick AB was formed in 1981 and claims to be a pioneer in applying self-adhesive coatings to thermal paper. Its range also includes machine coated materials, special laminates and linerless products. As well as Scandinavia, the company has operations in Germany, Benelux, Switzerland, Austria and the UK. ScandStick AB has a turnover of E44 million and employs 75 people. The acquisition gives the group a combined turnover of E110 million.
