Following a group-wide review, which was completed last year, Avery Dennison Business Media has sold its European label converting plants to a management buy-out team led by Svend Jørgensen, who becomes chairman. The new group, Sentega Holding bv, is based in the division’s headquarters in Utrecht in The Netherlands, where it has two manufacturing plants. Its third plant, Sentega Labels UK, is temporarily located in an Avery Dennison roll label facility in Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire, in southern England.
The MBO allows Sentega to explore added value markets previously prohibited due to a conflict between divisions. (Avery Dennison operates Office Products, Retail Information Services and Worldwide Ticketing divisions). Sentega inherits some licenses for proprietary labeling and related technologies from the former Business Media Division. This reflects its main business focus, which is to keep clear of high volume, low margin work. Instead it will concentrate on producing variable data labels for major automotive, electronics, aeronautics and durable goods manufacturers, sub-assemblers, as well as retail and logistics operators.
The group is said to rank among the top 10 label converters in Europe and sells through a pan-European sales operation. The UK operation is shortly expected to move into new premises in nearby High Wycombe with two new Arsoma flexo presses and ancillary equipment. Products will include thermal transfer roll labels for the electronics, industrial, agribusiness and heath care markets using polyester and polyamide materials.
