Smyth Companies offers complete IML package
Smyth Companies Inc., St. Paul, MN, has launched a new product aimed at firms that utilize injection-molded plastic containers in their brand packaging strategy. The product, called SmythInjection, is a system for labeling and decorating plastic packaging with an offset printed label placed right into the injection mold via specialized robotics equipment. The label is fused to the container and becomes a part of its construction.
With this new technology, Smyth aims to secure a leading position in the rapidly expanding market for injection in-mold labeling. Smyth offers the labels to decorate the container as well the technical equipment and expertise to integrate this capability into a manufacturer’s molding line.
“We have made a considerable investment in people, equipment, and intellectual capital in order to bring this offering to our customers and potential customers,” says Dan Hickey, VP sales, marketing and new product development. “We really believe this process and the stand-out graphics it gives a package will be a major part of our customers’ brand packaging strategies in the future.”
Smyth Companies operates out of six locations in Minnesota, Colorado, and Virginia, and has forged alliances in Italy and Mexico. The company employs about 500 people
