Comprehensive CTP flexo
for Newcastle trade house
With increasing pressures to reduce turnaround times, the label and packaging world would seem to be natural targets for prepress vendors. The accent is on highly automated workflows, as typified by the Creo package installed by Reproflex 3, a trade house near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in northeast England. It includes the first ThermoFlex Narrow platesetter to run on-line with a Prinergy Powerpack workflow management system and a Synapse InSite Internet portal, which allows customers to submit jobs and undertake remote proofing. It also uses Creo’s latest flexo screening tools: MaxTone, DigiCap, Raster Scaling and HyperFlex. Additionally, Synapse Link allows the system to support Reproflex 3’s new management information system for activity tracking and automated billing.
For the past two years Reproflex 3 has used an HP Indigo digital web press to proof on production substrates, as well as to produce self-adhesive labels in small runs. It sees the Creo package with “plug and play” standards as the next step in the digitization process: “We have told our customers about our digital plate capability and feedback has been good,” says Andrew Hewitson, director, adding that the firm was especially keen to check out the various screening solutions.
