Herma joins
Licon RFID alliance
Herma, a Stuttgart-based supplier of smart labels and label applicators, has joined Licon Logistics. The internationally active RFID working group was formed in 2003 by Siemens Business Services and the logistics specialists Kühne+Nagel. Members include Lufthansa Systems. Licon aims to carry out national and international projects within a working network, including establishing international RFID standards.
“The realization is spreading more and more that the profitability calculations in RFID projects in many cases do not depend on the costs of individual labels. The decisive factor is in fact the unbiased consideration of the system as a whole,” says Heiko Tiedmann, manager of the Smart Labels Department. “For instance, with RFID technology alone it is possible to reduce costs permanently that would otherwise be caused by wrong identification, mix-ups, rework, or manual handling.”
