roll out in Europe
Harper Corporation of America has trained personnel at its licensed German subsidiary, Harper Graphics, to produce XLT laser engraved anilox rolls for the start of European production. The company was established early in 2004 through an agreement with Inometa, a major producer of carbon fiber rollers, headquartered in Herford, Germany. Quality control testing was completed in mid June. American technicians worked closely with their German counterparts during the initial start-up of the European operation.
Planning, training and quality control development schemes are in place to ensure identical manufacturing procedures as those carried out in Harper’s other facilities. The company claims that regardless of whether an anilox roll is produced in the Charlotte, Green Bay or Thailand locations, the finished product is identical. “We have no doubt that the same will be true with the Herford, Germany, facility,” says Margie Harper Kluttz, executive vice president.
