Bar code verification
BST Pro Mark
Elmhurst IL USA
BST Pro Mark has released the DM400, a bar code verification system designed for use on slitters, rewinders and filling lines. The purpose is to ensure that all bar codes can be read and that all on a roll are identical. This eliminates rolls with multiple or incorrect bar codes. The company says the DM400 was created in response to the problem of improper or mixed bar codes, which can result in consumer products companies facing legal action. The system uses a high speed laser scanner to inspect 100 percent of the bar codes even at high speeds. The device learns to correct the bar code and alarms the operator when a non-conforming code is detected. It can be set up to stop the machine, apply a cover-up label or take other action.
