Max Daetwyler Corporation (MDC) has developed the StableFlex, a precision doctor blade that the company says substantially reduces or eliminates chatter, allowing for the press to run at maximum speeds. The tip configuration of the StableFlex allows the blade to “ride” with the vibration (from older, unstable presses) or the bounce of the anilox roll when running at higher speeds (on newer, high-speed presses), giving a more precise metering of the ink film and resulting in a better quality print, according to MDC. The doctor blade is designed to provide more blade stability, maintain a small contact point, allow deflection to compensate for the occurring vibration, and provide a cleaner wipe.
