BST adds Mark Andy rewinder to demo center
BST Pro Mark and Mark Andy have continued an 18-year tradition of cooperation with the addition of a new Mark Andy VSR100 rewinder in the BST demo center in Elmhurst, IL, USA. The rewinder is equipped with a Shark 100 percent inspection system with both black and white and color cameras on the re-VSR100.
“We have had a strong business relationship with BST Pro Mark for both web guides and inspection systems for many years,” says Greg Palm, vice president of Mark Andy. “We are always looking for unique ways to reach out to our customers and to effectively show the capabilities and competitive advantages of our equipment. Having the VSR for demonstrations at Pro Mark’s demo center gives us that extended capability.”
Adds John Thome, general manager of BST Pro Mark, “The combination of the Shark 100 percent print inspection system and the Mark Andy VSR rewinder is a perfect marriage. The two systems exemplify the leading edge technology that both BST Pro Mark and Mark Andy provide to the narrow web converting marketplace.”
Shark was designed for use on a rewinder or narrow web press, and will perform 100 percent inspection of webs up to 20", effectively identifying missing print, reverse type fill-in, splash, spots, mis-register, hickeys, dirty print, web crease, haze, scrumming, smudges, streaks, hairs, diecut variations, and incorrect matrix removal, according to the company.
The VSR line of inspection rewinders, says Mark Andy, is easy to operate and features a left-to-right workflow concept which allows the operator to ergonomically manage and see the entire inspection process. The proximity of the slitter cartridge to the rewind and the use of separator rings ensure effective winding of narrow slit webs.
The addition of capacitive sensors and a razor slitter cartridge make the machine ideal for inspection of clear-on-clear labels.
