Kodak introduces digital flexo prepress system
Kodak has introduced a new digital flexo plate production system which it says provides “previously unachievable near-offset print quality on a wide variety of substrates, including paper, flexible film, foil, and label stock.” The product is called the Flexcel NX Digital Flexographic System.
“Increasing competition in the package printing market is placing pressure on printers to deliver high quality print on a growing list of substrates,” says Vic Stalam, director of market segments and vice president of packaging products at Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “The Flexcel NX Digital Flexographic System provides a competitive advantage through higher resolution and a more productive process.”
The system includes the Flexcel NX 830 Thermal Imaging Layer, a choice of Kodak Trendsetter NX Narrow or Mid Imager, the Flexcel NX laminator, Flexcel NX digital flexographic plates, and the Kodak Prinergy Workflow System for Packaging. The Flexcel system complements Kodak’s existing digital flexo product portfolio, which includes the Thermoflex Platesetter and digital flexo plates manufactured by MacDermid.
