The Label Printers sponsors robotics team
The Label Printers, a converter based in Aurora, IL, USA, is the sponsor of a FIRST robotics team organized by students at Geneva High School, Geneva, IL, USA. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a public charity founded in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology.
“We are delighted to be a part of this very worthwhile and interesting program,” says Lori Campbell, general manager of The Label Printers. “Geneva’s team will be a ‘rookie team,’ and we are ‘rookie sponsors,’ but we’re looking forward to learning and having fun, along with the students, their teachers, parents, and community members.”
Mary Keyzer, a social studies teacher at Geneva High School who will be the team’s faculty organizer and champion, says that the nearly 20 students who have already signed up to participate are “very excited about this wonderful program. When we heard that The Label Printers was willing to sponsor an area team, we jumped right on it. We’re so grateful to them for giving us this opportunity.”
Geneva’s team received its robot “kit” at the beginning of January, and is building it over the course of the next six weeks, after which it goes to the competition in late February.
The Label Printers, founded in 1967, operates two facilities in Aurora, and manufactures and distributes labels and packaging products to thousands of customers in 25 countries around the world.
