Confidex, a supplier of high-performing contactless ticketing and RFID tag products, has announced that in August 2012, it exceeded the 300 million pieces milestone in delivering limited use contactless tickets, compliant with NFC Forum Type 2. In addition, the company has also introduced its new NFC product offering to serve the widening adoption of Near Field Communication technology and ubiquitous information sharing with mobile devices.
“The adoption of contactless ticketing has been growing rapidly as the benefits for public transport operators can be measured by the smooth commuting and reduced maintenance costs. The emergence of NFC will bring mobile phones as a new payment option. This will further increase the value of contactless infrastructure and grow the market for all kinds of contactless fare payment media,” says Timo Lindström, CEO of Confidex.
Confidex has expanded its NFC offering to new types of Confidex NFC Forum Type 2 compliant tags. These new NFC tags are designed for multipurpose use in industrial asset management, authentication and safety and communication and experience applications. Special product variants are available for different surfaces and environments, including metal, and applications including mechanical impacts, chemicals and moisture.
“As we see NFC adoption growing from small scale pilots to volume roll-outs, it is a prerequisite for the NFC tag supplier to have total control over quality and product performance. The added value that Confidex brings to the NFC ecosystem is the capacity and competence to ensure consistent quality supply in very large volumes,” explains Timo Lindström.
