Dscoop Global Chairman Chris Petro has announced the passing of Dscoop member Rod Key of Shutterfly (formally R&R Images). Key passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 20. He is survived by his wife Patti and a son, Austin.
“For those in our community who had the honor of meeting or working with Rod, you understand the sense of loss of our dear friend; it is extremely difficult to accept,” Petro said in a statement. “His commitment to Dscoop was unending and his passion for our industry, our organization and our teams was unwavering. Part of the original board of Dscoop, Rod previously served as North America conference chair, marketing chair and led countless other successful efforts in our industry. Rod’s passion and love for the Dscoop community personifies the essence and strength of what Dscoop is all about. His loss leaves a hole in our community that we will never be able to fill.”
Petro described Key as a driven leader who was always passionate and committed. “What we will miss most about Rod is his hardworking attitude, infectious smile, laugh and friendship,” Petro added. “I personally cannot remember a moment that I spent with Rod that I wasn’t smiling, laughing and having a great time.”
In honor of Key, the Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF) has created the Rod Key Memorial Scholarship. Key’s family has asked that all donations be made to the scholarship fund.
“In the coming weeks, we at Dscoop will be taking a few initiatives to honor the memory of Rod and will keep you updated on those steps,” Petro said. “Please keep Rod and his family in your prayers. Being able to call Rod my friend and work with him over the years, I know he would have wanted us to remember him as someone who lived life to the fullest, and for us to do the same.”
