Flint Group wins FIA UK gold award for TerraCode Bio ink range

Flint Group Packaging Solutions has received a gold award in the Technical Innovation (Supplier) category at the 2026 Flexographic Industry Association (FIA UK) Awards for its TerraCode Bio range of bio-renewable inks.

Presented at the June 11 ceremony, the award recognizes TerraCode Bio for delivering both environmental and performance benefits. The water-based ink system is formulated with up to 90% bio-renewable and recycled materials and is reported to achieve CO₂ reductions of up to 25% compared to conventional alternatives.

Designed for applications including corrugated packaging, industrial bags and sacks, food service packaging, and film, the ink range is engineered to match the performance of traditional water-based systems. Flint Group notes that the formulation supports high press speeds and consistent print quality, enabling converters to adopt more sustainable materials without disrupting production.

The technology has already gained traction across Europe, particularly in the post-print corrugated segment, where it has outperformed traditional extender systems. According to Flint Group, customers have reported a smooth transition with no measurable impact on throughput, alongside improved environmental performance.

“TerraCode Bio was developed to address a clear challenge facing printers today: how to reduce environmental impact without adding risk or complexity into the pressroom,” says Paul Winstanley, vice president of technology and product management at Flint Group Packaging Solutions. “This recognition reflects the strength of the technology in both performance and carbon reduction.”

The award highlights ongoing innovation in ink formulation, as suppliers work to align sustainability goals with the operational demands of high-speed flexographic printing.
