The Phoenix Challenge Foundation has announced the launch of the new Howard B. Vreeland Sr. Virtual Campus, an online learning platform that marks yet another powerful tool in its Educational Tool Box. This modern, up-to-date resource represents another significant step forward in the Foundation’s mission of “Creating, Inspiring & Building Tomorrow’s Workforce.”

Comprehensive Flexographic Curriculum

The Virtual Campus offers a curriculum covering the core principles of flexographic printing. Each course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the flexographic printing process while introducing key industry concepts and terminology.

Produced and hosted by the Phoenix Challenge Foundation, the new Howard B. Vreeland Sr. Virtual Campus is a state-of-the-art learning management system (LMS) developed specifically for students exploring careers in graphic communications, manufacturing, packaging, and print production. The platform provides structured, self-paced coursework that delivers industry-relevant knowledge with practical course topics and prepares students for future opportunities in the flexographic printing industry.  This new LMS was made possible by the support of Howard B. Vreeland Jr., chairman of Anderson & Vreeland, Inc.

Designed to complement graphic arts and technical education programs, the new Howard B. Vreeland Sr. Virtual Campus provides educators with a ready-to-use curriculum framework while allowing students to learn at their own pace. The platform can be utilized as a standalone educational resource or integrated with hands-on laboratory instruction, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry application.

The Virtual Campus is named in honor of Howard B. Vreeland Sr., a pioneer in the industry, recognizing his lifelong dedication to flexographic education and workforce development. The platform reflects his belief that access to quality trade education should be available to students regardless of their geographic location.

Expanding Career Pathways

Today, after nearly 30 years of workforce development, it is likely that many converters, suppliers, and brand owners have crossed paths with a Phoenix Challenge Foundation alumnus. Hundreds of alumni of the program can be found not only operating presses, but also serving in technical support, prepress, quality, sales, product development, and leadership roles throughout the printing and packaging industry.

For educators, school administrators, and students exploring career pathways in manufacturing, graphic communications, and packaging design, the new Howard B. Vreeland Sr. Virtual Campus provides an accessible entry point into a dynamic and rewarding industry. Employers across the flexographic printing sector are actively seeking candidates who possess foundational industry knowledge and technical skills.

Whether a student is exploring future career options or building toward a profession in print production, the new Howard B. Vreeland Sr. Virtual Campus delivers professional-grade flexographic education anytime, anywhere.
