As label converters navigate growing demands for shorter runs, faster turnaround times, and greater production flexibility, many are evaluating how and when to invest in digital printing technologies.

L&NW recently caught up with Mike Barry, Commercial Director of Domino Digital Printing Americas, to discuss the evolving market landscape, the importance of strategic technology investments, and how its unique In-House Leasing program is helping converters accelerate growth while preserving financial flexibility.

L&NW: What inspired Domino to develop its In-House Leasing program?
MB: Converters are balancing two competing realities. On one hand, brand owners are demanding shorter runs, faster turnaround times, greater SKU proliferation, and increased personalization. On the other hand, converters are facing rising operating costs, labor challenges, and ongoing economic uncertainty.

The pressure to invest in new technology is real, but so is the need to manage cash flow and reduce risk. The challenge is finding a path to growth that is both strategic and financially responsible.

We recognized that many label converters are interested in digital printing technology but may be hesitant about the upfront capital investment. Our In-House Leasing program was created to make the transition to digital easier and more accessible.

By offering financing directly through Domino, we provide a streamlined path to acquiring the digital printing solutions that customers need to grow their business while helping them preserve cash flow and reduce financial complexity.

L&NW: How does Domino’s In-House Leasing program differ from traditional equipment financing?
MB: The biggest difference is simplicity. There are no banks or third-party leasing companies involved. Customers work directly with Domino. The program offers fixed monthly payments, attractive rates, flexible terms, and the customer 100% owns the equipment at the end of the lease. Because we understand the industry and the technology, we can tailor solutions that align with our customers’ operational and business goals. Ultimately, the program is designed around the realities of running a label business rather than the requirements of a traditional lender. Investing in digital printing technology should be an opportunity, not an obstacle.

Domino’s In-House Leasing program removes many of the traditional barriers by offering a simple, flexible, and customer-focused approach to financing.

L&NW: What additional benefits do converters realize with this program?
MB: Beyond reducing upfront costs, our leasing program helps customers manage risk and accelerate their return on investment. We offer deferred payment options that allow businesses time to ramp up production before payments begin.

In addition, the lease can be bundled with service, maintenance, training, printheads, and digital solutions programs, creating a predictable and comprehensive ownership experience. Plus, there is a future-proof trade-in guarantee as part of this program.

L&NW: What message would you like label converters to take away?
MB: The most successful partnerships are built around helping customers achieve business outcomes. Sometimes that means providing innovative technology. Other times it means removing obstacles that make technology adoption difficult.

Our In-House Leasing program is a good example of that philosophy.  It’s about helping converters move forward with confidence and invest in their future on terms that support their business objectives.
