Avery Dennison has introduced Pathfinder Edge, its latest all-in-one handheld label printer, designed to improve speed, efficiency, and ease of use for retail and logistics operations.

The new device represents a significant advancement in the Pathfinder line, combining scanning, printing, and label application into a single ergonomically designed unit. According to Avery Dennison, Pathfinder Edge delivers up to 50% faster print speeds and 25% longer battery life compared to previous generations, enabling users to produce more labels per charge and maintain productivity during high-volume shifts.

Engineered to address ongoing labor and operational challenges, Pathfinder Edge is designed for rapid onboarding and ease of use, with an intuitive interface that allows new associates to become proficient quickly. The device integrates into existing workflows while supporting improved throughput and accuracy across store and warehouse environments.

Key features include a quick-scan trigger for fast and accurate barcode capture, along with advanced connectivity options, including NFC, Wi-Fi 6e, and Bluetooth, ensuring seamless integration with modern data-driven operations. The system also incorporates predictive monitoring capabilities, helping operators identify potential issues before they lead to downtime.

When paired with Avery Dennison label materials, Pathfinder Edge supports a range of applications across retail and logistics sectors. In parcel logistics, faster print-and-apply functionality can help reduce misrouted shipments and improve throughput, particularly during peak periods. In retail environments, the device enables more efficient price marking, markdowns, and reticketing, while in grocery and food applications, it supports markdown optimization to reduce waste and improve product availability.

“Retail and logistics operators are under increasing pressure to move faster while managing labor and cost constraints,” says Michael Goller, VP of Digital Solutions at Avery Dennison. “Pathfinder Edge is designed to simplify workflows by reducing the need for multiple devices and improving accuracy and efficiency on the shop floor.”

Pathfinder Edge is available now and serves as the first model in a new generation of mobile devices from Avery Dennison. Future versions, including models with RFID capabilities, are expected to expand functionality into areas such as inventory management, freshness tracking, and advanced reticketing. The company will continue to support its existing Pathfinder installed base.
