Herma introduces linerless material for high-adhesion applications

The launch follows the introduction of Herma's silicone-free InNo-Liner technology and further expands the company's linerless label portfolio.

Herma has expanded its linerless label portfolio with Linerless Plus (400), a new self-adhesive material designed to deliver stronger adhesion while improving process reliability for demanding labeling applications.

The material incorporates Herma’s 62Dps multi-layer pressure sensitive adhesive, allowing the adhesive to be applied across the entire label surface without the adhesive-free zones commonly used in conventional linerless constructions. According to the company, this design provides higher initial and final adhesion while reducing adhesive bleed and contamination of cutting mechanisms during converting and printing.

Herma says the new material is particularly well suited for logistics and shipping applications, where labels must adhere reliably to rough cardboard and withstand friction and mechanical stress. The adhesive also maintains performance at low temperatures.

In addition to improving label performance, the company says the new construction simplifies roll design by eliminating the need to predefine adhesive-free areas and extends cleaning intervals for linerless printing equipment by reducing adhesive buildup.

Linerless Plus (400) is compatible with standard linerless label printers, allowing converters to adopt the material without additional equipment investment. Because it eliminates the need for a release liner, the material also helps reduce waste and disposal costs while supporting resource conservation initiatives aligned with the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
