The Phoenix Challenge Foundation, a 503(c) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and workforce development in the flexographic printing and packaging industries, has announced the formal adoption of Flexography in the Classroom as an official educational resource across all of its high school and career center programs. This milestone marks the latest addition to the Foundation’s growing educational tool box, reinforcing its commitment to advancing industry knowledge and workforce readiness in the flexographic printing and packaging industries.
Flexography in the Classroom has been formally classified and copyrighted as a Technical Publication by the United States Copyright Office — a designation that recognizes its value as a rigorous, standards-aligned instructional work. This classification places the textbook as a protected technical learning resource and underscores the quality and depth of content it brings to students and educators.
Editorial Team of Flexography Experts
Realizing the gap in educational tools and programs for some time, this initiative is the result of a focused effort of over three years. With the support of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation, a dedicated team of flexo experts, educators and curriculum designers worked countless hours defining and building a tool that aligns with today’s educational philosophy and programs. The team’s collaboration has delivered a modern, up-to-date, and highly relevant volume to support a strong flexographic curriculum.
Flexography in the Classroom now becomes the preeminent text for classroom learning, covering the breadth of flexographic printing principles — from prepress and plate-making to substrates, inks, and more — providing students with the foundational knowledge required to succeed in today’s competitive packaging and print marketplace. Its adoption sets the book as a core resource and an important tool in the Phoenix Challenge Foundation Educational Tool Box. “This textbook is more than a milestone — it’s a testament to what technical education in our industry can be. With our Flexography in the Classroom textbook now fully U.S. Copyrighted and woven into Phoenix Challenge Foundation programs, students and educators everywhere have a learning resource they can truly trust. I’m deeply proud of what the team and the achievement represent,” says Bettylyn Krafft, executive director of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation.
Contributors to Flexography in the Classroom include: Allen Vargo, Tony Donato, Joe Tuccitto, Bettylyn Krafft, Amy Beeker, Grayson Anthony, Hollie Bostic Pennington, Jason Warren, Joellyn Hayden, Marie Sullivan, Patrick Ruebensaal, Rebecca Rinella, Scott Porter, and Sherry Adams.
The announcement reflects the Foundation’s broader mission to equip the next generation of print and packaging professionals with the tools, knowledge, and credentials they need to thrive and join the workforce. By working with leading industry training experts and the boots-on-the-ground educators, along with the addition of this US Copyright protection, the Phoenix Challenge Foundation continues to build and provide the best educational tools to support their mission of “Creating, Inspiring & Building Tomorrow’s Workforce.”
