Stahl has signed an agreement to acquire the graphics coatings business of Weilburger Coatings in Brazil, expanding its packaging coatings operations and strengthening its position in the Latin American market.

The move marks another step in Stahl’s regional growth strategy, following previous expansions in Europe, and adds a complementary product portfolio to address evolving packaging requirements. The acquisition is expected to enhance Stahl’s offering across key segments, including food, beverage, and consumer packaging.

Brazil is viewed as a strategic growth market for packaging coatings, with increasing demand driven by population growth, urbanization, and expanding consumer goods production. By integrating Weilburger Graphics’ established customer base and technologies, Stahl aims to accelerate its presence in the region.

“Ensuring continuity for our customers is our highest priority,” says Saul Rios, managing director LATAM at Stahl. “By maintaining supply and service from the outset, we provide a seamless transition while building a strong foundation for future growth.”

As part of the integration, Stahl plans to progressively bring production of the acquired portfolio in-house at its Brazilian manufacturing site during 2026. The company has already invested in expanding local production capabilities to support both existing Stahl products and the newly acquired technologies.

The acquisition reflects a broader trend of suppliers investing in regional production and service capabilities to better support converters and brand owners with localized, high-performance coating solutions.

The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks, subject to regulatory approval.
