Superior Tape & Label expands flexo capacity with Weigang

Superior Tape & Label has expanded its production capacity with the installation of a third Weigang flexographic press, completing three identical installations within a 12-month period.

The latest installation, completed in June 2026, further strengthens the US converter’s production platform and marks another milestone in its ongoing investment in high-performance label manufacturing.

Based in Gresham, OR, USA, Superior Tape & Label specializes in pressure sensitive labels and custom label solutions for a wide range of industries. These include food and beverage, healthcare, industrial products and consumer goods. The company is recognized for its focus on quality, responsiveness, and tailored production solutions for brand owners across North America.

High-specification configuration

All three presses share the same high-specification configuration, featuring eight-color flexographic printing, three diecutting stations, positioning cold foil, integrated unwind/rewind systems with non-stop operation, multiple hot-air drying units, and advanced converting capabilities designed to support efficient production of complex label applications.

Rather than expanding with different equipment platforms, Superior Tape & Label chose to install the same Weigang configuration three times within a single year. The decision highlights the importance of production consistency, operational reliability, and standardized workflows as manufacturing capacity grows.

According to Weigang, the installations reflect a broader shift in equipment evaluation within mature label markets, where converters increasingly prioritize overall production value, long-term operating stability, and configuration flexibility alongside initial investment considerations.

“The United States remains one of the world’s most demanding markets for printing equipment,” states Ryan Zhou, general manager, Weigang. “Customers evaluate every aspect of a production platform – from performance and safety compliance to service capability and long-term operating costs. Securing an initial installation is important, but repeat installations within such a short period are a far stronger validation. They demonstrate confidence built through day-to-day production rather than expectations alone.”

Zhou adds that Weigang’s approach combines production stability with a highly configurable platform. This model allows converters to tailor equipment to their own manufacturing requirements rather than adapting production around fixed machine specifications.

The three installations also comply with stringent safety requirements for the US market, reflecting Weigang’s continued investment in international standards and customer-specific engineering.
