The integrated production model, featuring Cartes’ technology, enables the American printer to reduce lead times and increase process control.
Released By CARTES label machines
June 1, 2026
Founded in 2011 in Los Angeles, CA, USA, AxiomPrint is a perfect example of how a commercial printer can become an integrated technology ecosystem. The company originated as Axiom Designs, focused on graphic and web design. However, it soon noticed a recurring client challenge: getting prints that truly reflected the company’s brand and vision, and managing the shift from design to print. To solve this, AxiomPrint created a production workflow to simplify and improve thecustomer experience.
“From the very beginning, our goal has been simple: to always say yes to projects and build systems that allow jobs to go into production seamlessly,” explains Gary Bayatyan, founder and head of growth at AxiomPrint.
This journey of continuous improvement includes investing in the Cartes Gemini label converting unit with Jet D-Screen digital embellishment technology. This enables the California-based company to further boost production autonomy, speed, and quality.
One of AxiomPrint’s defining features is the constant transformation of its operating model. In the early years, jobs were managed using Excel spreadsheets. These featured slow and predominantlymanual processes.
The turning point came in 2018, when a proprietary online platform was developed. Results were immediate and measurable. Time from first contact to production dropped from 2–3 days to just 42 minutes. The company’s positioning changed.
Today, 78% of orders are processed online. This reduces errors, waste, and reprints versus manual processes.
AxiomPrint uses a hybrid model that combines online and off-line services, where account managers handle the most complex projects, balancing automation, consulting, standardization, and customization.
AxiomPrint stands out by serving “smart” buyers who seek a reliable printing partner to efficiently, consistently, and at scale manage all their needs. Unlike competitors who segment by product sector, AxiomPrint delivers value through expertise in marketing materials, signage, labels, and packaging for retail, cosmetics, food and beverage, and real estate. Serving both local and national clients, 65% of orders come from the Greater Los Angeles area, with 35% shipping out of state.
With its proprietary platform, AxiomPrint manages more than print orders. It runs an integrated workflow with production, automation, and logistics. Advanced features include “split shipping,” which handles one order with multiple shipments, and “combined shipping,” which merges many orders into a single shipment.
These features position axiomprint.com as an operational hub for clients managing multiple locations or national campaigns. The core value lies in streamlining complexity, minimizing process steps, and assuring end-to-end reliability.
To support its business model, AxiomPrint has five production departments. The digital department produces marketing materials, books, and packaging. It uses dry toner presses from Xerox and Ricoh. The company also utilizes B2+ size inkjet systems from Konica Minolta and Fujifilm, which use LED-UV and water-based inks for high-quality prints. Advanced sheetfed finishing equipment includes the Scodix Ultra 2500 SHD, which creates decorative effects like gloss or texture.
The narrow web label department is strategic, using Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+ presses and advanced converting systems. Here, Cartes’ Gemini technology is central, enabling inline processes such as embossed UV spot varnishing (which adds raised, glossy designs) and digital foil application (which adds metallic foil details digitally).
The large-format printing department, workshop for sign production, and promotional products area complete the offering. Integration among these units lets AxiomPrint operate as a single-source provider. This reduces both time and complexity.
Labels are a flagship product for AxiomPrint, drawing steady orders and high loyalty. The workflow includes printing, lamination, embellishment, diecutting, and slitting.
The company offers a wide range of substrates, including white, silver, holographic, and transparent BOPP, as well as several types of paper. It has steadily expanded to offer complex solutions such as double-sided, multilayer, and booklet-style labels.
A growing trend is variable data printing. It allows customers to get more product variants or labels with QR codes, serial numbers, and unique content. Investments in hardware and software let AxiomPrint handle these requests with fast turnaround and consistent quality.
Gemini technology was added to overcome the limitations of outsourcing finishing, leading to higher costs, reduced quality control, and delays. These issues are hard to manage in a fast-paced market.
After evaluating three solutions, AxiomPrint chose Cartes for speed, cost, and a favorable ROI. The investment was slightly higher up front, but the machine’s efficiency delivers rapid payback. This is estimated at one year with constant use.
The chosen configuration is minimalist but strategic. The Gemini unit focuses on the Jet D-Screen module – an exclusive digital embellishment system that creates raised, tactile designs, and adds hot foil using UV-curable inkjet jettable fluids, which has made Cartes a global leader in digital embellishment.
In this setup, Gemini operates as a digital embellishment station downstream of the label printing lines, which adds high-value effects without increasing production complexity.
This approach delivers two main benefits for AxiomPrint. First, rapid, measurable ROI by reducing outsourcing costs and keeping the machine in constant use, and improved time-to-market by handling complex processes in-house, cutting the time from order to finished product dramatically.
“From the very beginning, the Cartes team stood out for its responsiveness and willingness to go above and beyond,” notes Bayatyan. “We saw not just a high-performance machine, but a partner with the same mindset as us.”
Today, Gemini is one of the plant’s top-performing machines. It features ease of use, low costs, and quick job changeovers.
Gemini with Jet D-Screen brings clear benefits. A digital workflow enables quick job switches, eliminates plate costs, and reduces setup time to zero. Also, it has opened new application opportunities. AxiomPrint can now offer products that were once hard to produce. These include spot UV varnishes with different thicknesses and hot foil applications on uncoated papers. For example, the company can now create wine labels with embossed red foil – a sophisticated, distinctive option for demanding wine growers. “With Cartes, we haven’t just improved our internal efficiency; we’ve tangibly expanded what we can offer our customers,” concludes Bayatyan. “Today we can say yes to more projects, with faster turnaround times and a higher level of quality.”
In a market focused on speed, customization, and quality, AxiomPrint shows how digital platforms and converting technologies provide a real advantage. Cartes Gemini enables this evolution.
