Wink launches new 'SmartGap' system

09.24.17

The adjustable anvil system is very simple and flexible to operate.

At this year’s event, Wink has presented its full portfolio of premium diecutting solutions and “maximum care” services. Highlights on Wink’s extended and completely new stand included several products.

Wink has further improved and developed its adjustable anvil system, which currently was re-branded as “SmartGap." The SmartGap system is very simple and flexible to operate. The operator can adapt the gap (clearance) with greatest accuracy individually for the drive and operator side. The system is convincing with its particularly stable construction that even makes cutting-through (metal-to-metal) possible without any problems and results in low-maintenance.

At this year’s show, Wink is not only showing the optimized basic version, SmartGap “Classic,” but also a “Touch” version with digital control and many smart features. These attributes further enhance production efficiency. The SmartGap has also been shown in live demos with diecutting on ultra-thin liners.

Many label and packaging applications include some kind of perforation in a variety of designs. Quite often, these perforations are difficult to achieve with conventionally produced flexible dies. Wink is showing a new type of perforating dies that overcomes these challenges. With patent pending laser technology, the perforation cuts and ties are produced with excellent precision, which allows for perfect perforations and micro perforations. Moreover, Wink is showcasing new SuperCut flexible die versions with specific adjustments of the blade geometry, e.g. for demanding materials like MDO on very thin PET liners, booklet and inmould labels.

In addition, Wink is presenting typical label solutions that require special die treatments like laser hardening, MCR (MicroChrome) or “MC plus” coating for maximum durability.

Next to a full range of basic cylinders (magnetic, anvil, printing) and solid rotary dies (including waste removal solutions), Wink is showing the updated “ForceControl” pressure monitoring system for monitoring and adjusting the cutting pressure, thus guaranteeing an effective and controlled process for all diecutting tasks. The pressure gauges can be easily positioned immediately after changing jobs using the quick snap lock system. ForceControl pressure gauges come in three different versions, each of them adapted to specific machine configurations and applications.
