The Griff Network has been awarded US Patent No. 12,662,819 for its Grip N Strip technology, an integrated split-release liner designed to simplify the application of pressure sensitive materials.

Originally developed for self-adhered roofing membranes, the patented design incorporates a folded pull tab directly into the split-release liner, allowing users to quickly locate and remove the second liner section without the need for separate pull strips or additional components. According to the company, the design improves installation efficiency while also simplifying liner manufacturing.

While initially targeting the building products market, Griff Network said the technology has broader potential for pressure sensitive adhesive applications, including labels, graphics, tapes, waterproofing products, vehicle wraps, and other adhesive-backed materials. The patented release liner folding process is also available for licensing.

“Grip N Strip was developed with one goal in mind—to make installation easier for contractors,” says Alex Phinn, president of The Griff Network. “By integrating the pull tab directly into the release liner, we’ve created a solution that helps installers work faster, reduces frustration on the jobsite, and improves the overall application process.”
